In My World: Tutoring
I love tutoring. It keeps in me in the loop in the public education world, and I still get my fix of teaching other children outside of my own. I love teaching. I love seeing the spark when the children realize that they can do it.
Several occasions this summer, my students have said things such as, "Wow, I'm not as dumb as Mrs. Such and Such said." and "This isn't that hard after all." I know the first comment is bad, but to see and hear the boost in his self-confidence was priceless. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to help these students become more confident and grasp the skills they need to make it in the classroom.
Tuesday was probably our longest day this summer, I tutored 5 hours without a break, and during this time I realized just how awesome my girls are; neither of them disturbed my sessions. They read, took a rest, and played quietly. Really, they are the reason I am able to tutor from home. After my last student left, Ramya said to me,"Mommy you are so sweet." I asked her why, and she responded, "You are so sweet because you help those children." Just when I was wondering if I am doing to much or not enough, she comes with just the right words.
How has your week been? Do any of you work from home?
